Archaeology and the Commons

December 7th, 2005 by John Wilbanks

I spend a lot of time on the life sciences. But it’s important to blog about other disciplines, and the commons efforts there. Today we’ll look at archaeology.

I was inspired today by an entry in a worth1000 photoshop contest, showing a Creative Commons license on stone art. There is a lot of great work going on in the archaeology and anthropology worlds to build and maintain commons of information, materials, data, and more. Check out the ArchaeoCommons and the Alexandria Archive, and if you’ve got more, leave me a comment so that I can add them to the list.
